Open licenseElewe omo is one of the oldest vocations that are being practiced in Yoruba land. They are Traditional medicinal ingredient dealers who specialize in all kinds of local herbs. They are often patronized by Traditional healers such as herbalists, traditional psychiatrists, traditional birth attendants, and traditional surgeons who rely on various herbs for medicine practices. Prior to the advent of orthodox medicine, they were the major suppliers of traditionals herbs for curing various ailments. Elewe omo are still found in modern times but they are common in rural communities and villages. This audiovisual was recorded in Iseyin, a town in Oyo State of Nigeria on the 20th of July 2022. The video features Alhaja Azeezat, a local Elewe omo in Iseyin. The video was directed and produced for the Yoruba Wikimedians User Group by Tunde Oladimeji, a notable documentary film maker in Nigeria.
