Pall bearers carry flag-draped coffin down Capitol steps. “Simple but impressive services were conducted in the rotunda of the Capitol by Chaplain Frazier who served as chaplain of the ‘Olympia’ with Admiral Dewey in Manila Bay.” Coffin is placed on caisson - honor guard inarches beside caisson. “With Chaplain Frazier rode the Rev. Dr. Roland Cotton Smith rector of St. John’s Episcopal Church where Admiral Dewey worshipped.” Horse-drawn carriage - cortege marching along Pennsylvania Avenue. “Members of the General Board of the Navy of which Admiral Dewey was president and the survivors of the battle of Manila Bay, all in carriages, followed the caisson.” “A regiment of midshipmen from the Naval Academy acted as escort.” “Arlington Cemetery.” Coffin is carried to tomb. “Admiral Dewey’s flag, four white stars on a blue field.” Gates of cemetery are closed - two soldiers stand with bared heads in front of gate.
