Laurel & Hardy's later Silent films played like early sound films. It's easy to see how they made the transition to sound. They really didn't change much and did the same physical comedy they had been doing but used about the same amount of dialog. This kept the comedies true to the formula that made them amazing. A little technical history on this one. This was a "2 Reel" comedy meaning two 10 minute reels of film. When Blackhawk started distributing silent 16mm films, they sold them in a box like the later 8mm films but with 400ft. reels so they could be run on older projectors that had that as the largest capacity. I spliced the two reels together but I left the "End of Reel 1" and "Beginning of Reel 2" sequences intact on my physical film and put them on an 800ft. reel.
