Public domainWhen Gunner Kaasen and the dog team, led by Balto, arrived in Nome with the diptheria serum, it was 5:30 a.m.—too dark for photographs. Later that day, the serum run into Nome and the delivery to Dr. Welch was recreated for a French newsreel.
