The Master Carver and a Message - A Documentary By Green Wilfred Somoni.webm
Open licenseThis documentary takes us into the world of a Veteran artist from the Niger Delta region of Nigeria, Dr. Pius Obuduo Waritimi. He shares his views about art, what it should stand for, and gives us an insight about his roots and how he hopes to use art as a medium for speaking out about the damage and setback on Fishing - the primary source of livelihood of the indigenous people of the Niger Delta - caused by oil spillage, and the lack of interest in the profession by recent generations for related reasons. The Fisherman's Parlor, a project documented in this film, stands as a symbol of remembrance of their livelihood, and possible conservation of the same through advanced industrial methods. Possibly one of my most fulfilling contributions, I filmed this documentary on my phone - for the first time. I'm happy to share it with the world and I hope it serves the purpose for which it was created. My Email: wilfredunique@gmail.com Instagram: Instagram.com/_somoni
