Video footage taken at about 10:30 AM on December 23, 2022 on the corner of Main and Laurel Streets in Buffalo, New York shows the beginning of the three-day blizzard that, according to Erie County Executive Mark Poloncarz, proved "the worst storm in [the] community's history, surpassing the Blizzard of '77". Over four feet of snow fell at the Buffalo Niagara International Airport , with wind gusts up to 70 miles per hour generating whiteout conditions that grounded emergency vehicles and trapped in their cars those making ill-advised commutes.
