Open licenseThe foot of Keuka Lake as seen from Red Jacket Park in Penn Yan, New York, as seen on a March 2022 afternoon. Established in 1924 on what was then the last unoccupied lakefront parcel in the village and named for the famous Seneca chief and orator more properly known as Sagoyewatha ("Keeper Awake"), Red Jacket Park comprises 3.6 acres of pleasant greenery with a playground, picnicking facilities, a boat launch, a beach that's open for swimming in the warm months, and a bronze statue of the park's namesake.
