Painted Textiles for the Sukkah
IN COPYRIGHT
These painted textiles were among the eight wall-hangings that adorned the sukkah of the chief rabbi of Denmark, Rabbi Friediger. During World War II Rabbi Friediger was arrested, while his wife fled to Sweden. She was sheltered for a time by the Ettlinger family of Stockholm, and as a token of her gratitude gave them these wall-hangings from the sukkah. The paintings on the wall-hangings depict images from the life of Moses and the wanderings of the Israelites in the desert before they arrived in the Land of Israel.
