Sir Winston Churchill

The great British statesman, author, and impassioned orator Sir Winston Churchill (1875–1965) was Epstein's neighbor in Hyde Park Corner, though Churchill supposedly disdained the latter's carvings. Epstein modeled this bust, which he considered an "interesting character study," in 1946, while Churchill was giving dictation and smoking cigars.
