Ernest Bloch

By 1910, after the premiere of his opera Macbeth, the Swiss Jewish composer Ernest Bloch (1880–1959) had achieved musical prominence. Epstein and Bloch enjoyed stormy conversations during the sittings for the bust, which conveys the composer's alertness and dynamism.
